I was flipping channels a couple nights ago and stopped at one of my most watched channels, TCM (Turner Classic Movies), as a movie starring Lon Chaney Jr. called "Spider Baby" was just beginning. I never heard of this film so I decided to give it a shot.

Overall this movie wasn't bad, just not that special either. I understand how some slow moving situations can add to the tension and general eerie feel to a movie, but the lack of ripples, kept this dark water rather still.

Jennifer Connelly, as always, delivered a solid performance.

I finally received Shaun of the Dead from Netflix yesterday and loved it. This was clearly one of the best non-Romero zombie films ever. The film started with quick, clever comical character development.

Not since "Brain Dead" (aka Dead Alive) have I enjoyed a zombie-comedy this much. I'll start off by saying that I loved this movie on DVD - the unrated Director's cut. I'm tired of hearing from so-called hard-core Romero fans that this movie was just okay. Bullshit. This movie was fantastic. It was stylish, fun, intense and gory.
